FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas – The world’s most technologically advanced rehabilitation center for amputees and burn victims was opened at Brooke Army Medical Center on January 29th, 2007, and patients and staff celebrated the anniversary with a ceremonial cake cutting on Friday, January 27th.

On September 24, 2011, the 23rd annual Murphy's Masters Golf tournament was held at Pehquenakonck Golf Club in North Salem, N.Y. Blessed with great weather and a group of 66 very generous yet average golfers, we were able to raise just under $23,000.00 for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF).

This event includes a silent art auction, 2 fashion shows by International fashion designers and entertainment by DJ and jazz band. Proceeds go to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Rock musician Jonathan Auerbach proudly partners with The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in a shared commitment in support of the men and women of the armed services. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a not-for-profit organization and national leader in supporting the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families, has provided over $120 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. The Fund most recently opened the National Intrepid Center of Excellence to support the research, diagnosis, and treatment of military personnel and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury.

New Rehabilitation Device Developed at the Center for the Intrepid

A new energy-storing orthopedic device along with an extensive rehabilitation program is allowing wounded warriors who previously had difficulties walking or standing due to lower leg injuries to run again. The Intrepid Dynamic Exoskeletal Orthosis (IDEO) was designed by prosthetist Ryan Blanck at the Center for the Intrepid (CFI). It is a custom-fit device made from carbon and fiberglass that supports the foot and ankle and resembles an amputee’s running prosthetic.

Algonquin Advisors along with Blue Orchid Capital sponsored a one day golf event “Supporting our Troops” at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia this past October 2010. Corporate and individual sponsorships were sold to help raise funds and awareness for the on-going programs provided by the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and the Troops First Foundation. Through the generosity of the sponsors a contribution of over $140,000 was made to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and the Troops First Foundation. Both of these organizations devote an enormous amount of money, time and resources to assisting our fellow Americans and their families who have served our country and insured freedoms for us and for others around the globe. Featured guest included Corey Pavin, 1995 U.S. Open Champion and 2010 Ryder Cup Captain, David Feherty, CBS Golf Analyst and several Honorary Military and Wounded Warriors.

The main event showcases two of the best lightweights in the world, Florian and Evan Dunham.
